Biomedical Research Training Groups in Magdeburg

 
There are currently four biomedical research training groups running in Magdeburg, which offer additional support for your PhD. Here, you can acquire further specialist expertise and prepare for a career in science and research. As a rule, many of the research training groups’ events are also open to early-career researchers enrolled in the CBBS Graduate Programme. Particularly gifted students also have the opportunity to join the PhD programme at the Max Planck School of Cognition and gain an exceptionally broad understanding of the various methods and research approaches within the rapidly evolving field of cognitive science. The School comprises a number of excellent and world-renowned scientists who are active in research and whose scientific interests, despite their different disciplinary backgrounds, overlap and complement one another.

For general enquiries regarding doctoral studies and career development, the Graduate Academy at Otto von Guericke University, as the central service provider for all doctoral students, offers support. It organises skills courses for successful researchers and coordinates initiatives to promote gender equality and diversity, as well as support for researchers with young children.

PhD Student Representative

 
Pursuing a PhD can be a challenge for doctoral students, both professionally and personally. There are stressful periods and unexpected events that can lead to conflicts or difficult situations where you may need support. Whether you are experiencing conflicts with colleagues, your supervisor or other staff members, whether you feel discriminated against, or are struggling to meet your academic requirements due to professional or personal issues – in such cases, please feel free to contact Dana Zöllner, the coordinator of the CBBS Graduate Program, or the PhD student representatives at your institution.

CBBS Graduate Program Committee

The CBBS Graduate Program is coordinated by an interdisciplinary team comprising four professors from Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, the University Medical Centre, the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology and the German Centre for Neurodegenerative Diseases e. V. Magdeburg. The program is supported by the dedicated PhD student representatives mentioned above, who play an active role and provide student support throughout the program.
