Prof. Lyre holds the chair of Theoretical Philosophy and is the director of the Philosophy – Neurosciences – Cognition program at the University of Magdeburg. His research areas lie in the philosophy of science of cognitive computational neuroscience and artificial intelligence. His special topics include structural representation in cognition and structural models of the phenomenal, mental externalism and extended cognition, structural realism, reductionism, and multiple realizability. Earlier research interests concerned the foundations of quantum and information theory, gauge symmetries, and Kant's philosophy of nature.
