Prof. Dirk Ostwald leads the Department of Methodology I: Experimental and Neuroscientific Psychology at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. The central research objective of the working group is to expand the understanding of the neurocomputational foundations of human behavior through the continuous development and experimental testing of probabilistic data analysis models. In the long term, a vertical linking of the computational, algorithmic, and implementational levels of Marr’s cognitive process framework is aimed for. For this purpose, across the various research projects, an interdisciplinary approach consisting of mathematical modeling, computer simulation, and empirical evaluation based on human behavioral and neuroimaging data (primarily EEG) is pursued.
