Membership

The CBBS brings together over 100 researchers from Magdeburg’s neuroscience community. Would you also like to become a member of the CBBS? If so, please submit your application, including a short cover letter and your CV (with a list of your publications and details of any external funding you have secured), as an attachment to the CBBS Executive Board, which decides on the admission of new members. Please send your application electronically to the CBBS Coordinator.
CBBS members should list the CBBS as a secondary affiliation on their publications and posters.

The benefits of CBBS membership

We use the CBBS mailing list to keep all members informed about developments and events in the field of neuroscience via our newsletter. This ensures you are always up to date and never miss any important news. We are happy to include announcements from your field in the newsletter.

CBBS members benefit from the close links between Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg – including Magdeburg University Hospital – the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology Magdeburg and the German Centre for Neurodegenerative Diseases e.V. Magdeburg, which offer a wide range of opportunities for collaboration.

CBBS membership entitles you to apply for a wide range of CBBS-internal funding calls. These funds, provided by the State of Saxony-Anhalt and the ERDF, can be used to finance travel expenses, support for materials and infrastructure, and mentoring programmes.

The membership categories are set out in our Rules of Administration and Use:

full membership

The requirements for admission as a full member are:

1) A completed PhD and verifiable independent external funding at the time of the application for admission

2) Excellent publications (depending on career stage), or alternatively patents or comparable outstanding achievements

3) Affiliation with a research institution in Magdeburg (otherwise associate membership as provided for in the Administrative and User Regulations)

temporary full membership

The requirements for admission as a temporary full member are:

1) A completed PhD and funding from the CBBS that is either about to commence or is currently in progress

2) Membership is limited to the duration of the funding. Once the requirements have been met, an application for admission as a full member may be submitted.

3) Young postdoctoral researchers without funding from the CBBS may be admitted as CBBS members, but this is limited to the first six years following the completion of their PhD. If the requirements are met, an application for full membership may be submitted.

associate membership

The requirements for admission as an associate member are:

1) Emeritus members, external members (e.g. former CBBS members), industry partners or representatives of the administration
