Prof. Hans-Jochen Heinze has been Chairman of the Board and Medical Director of the University Hospital Magdeburg since March 2019. As Chairman of the Board, he represents the University Hospital Magdeburg in all matters. He is responsible for coordinating medical care in the hospital and ensures that patient care in all clinical disciplines corresponds to the current state of medical knowledge and aligns with scientific and economic requirements. After his training as a specialist in neurology and his habilitation, Prof. Heinze went to the University of California in San Diego in 1987 for a two-year research stay. In 1993, he came to the newly founded Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg as Director of the Clinic for Neurology. There he played a key role in developing the neuroscience focus. Since 2005, he has also been heading the Department of Behavioral Neurology at the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology in Magdeburg.
