Prof. Dr. Esther Kühn uses human MRI imaging of various field strengths (3T, 7T, 9.4T MRI) to understand how the architecture of the sensorimotor system relates to human body perception and body control in health and disease. She studies healthy younger and older participants and patients with neurodegenerative, neurological, and psychiatric disorders affecting the sensorimotor system (such as ALS, MS, somatic symptoms, trauma disorders) to understand the neural mechanisms underlying healthy and pathological cortical architecture and its modification.
