Prof. Andreas Nürnberger leads the research group “Data & Knowledge Engineering” at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. The focus of the research work of the group is the development of methods for interactive information retrieval and exploration. In addition to the design of adaptive user interfaces, a research emphasis is on the development of methods that allow a retrieval system to dynamically adapt to the requirements and interests of the user. This includes the development of methods that record and analyze the behavior of individual users as well as user groups in order to obtain information about their requirements and interests. This information is then used to reorganize the structure and presentation of the document collection being considered and the search results, in order to enable individualized user support in information retrieval.
