Dr. Alessio Attardo is a neurobiologist who is interested in the cellular and circuit-level mechanisms underlying the formation and retrieval of episodic memories. His group uses advanced optical imaging techniques in combination with genetics, optogenetics, and chemogenetics as well as behavioral paradigms to investigate the relationship between synaptic changes, changes in neuronal activity patterns, and learning in mice. Dr. Attardo's group is part of the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology Magdeburg.
